As an actress, on stage, make up must be thick, heavy and full. To cover imperfections and to get a thick, even face I use Max Factors pan stick foundation. It’s thick and creamy and tends not to melt in the bright lights! But to tone it down, I’d use a damp sponge to determine the thickness.
To create a super-natural look (not as in ghosts, my darlings) you could either opt for a tinted moisturiser to add colour and a powder to prevent shine, rather than full-on foundation, especially in the summer. Alternatively, you could apply a fake tan especially for the face at night, so you wake up looking better than you did when you went to bed! It’s not so scary that way, believe me.
